I have always had a passion for horses. As a young girl I would read any book I could find about horses. All my notebooks and any spare pieces of paper were covered with my horse drawings. When I was 11 years old, I was able to start taking riding lessons. The farm where I learned to ride used natural horsemanship. I not only learned how to ride, but I learned how to develop a relationship with a horse. After I had been riding for almost 4 years, the owner of the farm asked me to start working with a young colt named Shorty. This colt had been halter broken, but never ridden. I used ground work to build a relationship with Shorty. Little by little I built his trust and eventually I was the first person to ride him. The following Christmas the owner of the farm gave him to me.
I continued to study horsemanship in every way possible. In high school I started taking lessons from Parelli professionals. I worked my way through the Parelli levels program with Shorty. My mare Arietta joined me right before I left for college. She was another young horse who had never been ridden, but unlike Shorty she was very confident being around people. I took both of them to college with me and continued to develop them while earning a degree in Equine Business. In 2013, Shorty and I completed the 4 week Parelli Fast Track in Pagosa Springs, CO. We returned to CO after I graduated college to participate in the 12 week Parelli Externship. I taught as a Parelli Professional until I resigned in early 2017 and started my own business: Hoofbeats in Harmony.
My goal through Hoofbeats in Harmony is to help horse lovers achieve their goals while educating them on how to develop their horse’s mental, emotional, and physical fitness. Connection and communication are key in developing a horse. I find that many horses are rushed through their foundation work and many riders are lacking in the basic horsemanship skills needed to achieve their dreams. My goal is to change this!!!
I am so blessed to be making a living doing what I love best - teaching horsemanship lessons. I can’t wait to share my passion for horses with you and help you live your dream too! - Mallory Morée
